Collaboration on a story project by Wu Yang, an established local Vancouver artist and published illustrator.
NAFVancouver and FEIART Group are urgently in search for a talented, experienced writer, for a collaboration on a story project by Wu Yang, an established local Vancouver artist and published illustrator. The project is about her artistic journey of leaving behind her home after a renowned career in textile & fashion design, in order to pursue a life making art.
About the Project
An established local artist and published illustrator is looking for a writer to collaborate with her on a story project that tells her artistic journey of leaving behind her home and career to pursue a life making art. Educated in textile and fashion design, Wu Yang’s leanings toward artistic expression emerged during her time teaching at university. Her paintings of surreal images and landscapes in oils and pastels as well as other media have been shown in numerous exhibitions around the world and her youthful illustrations have appeared in more than 10 books and publications overseas. The ideal candidate for this project is a writer who has published one or more books and feels confident of capturing the essence of this artist’s story as someone who, like so many female creatives facing obstacles in their career path, made the leap of faith to immigrate to Canada and become a full-time artist. Wu Yang has inserted caricatures of herself within her original paintings to illustrate the steps she took on her personal artistic journey. These caricatures are merely being used as a symbol of female empowerment and are meant to inspire others in similar situations as herself and who wish to pursue their dreams somewhere else.
